Open daily: 08:30-15:00

Regardless of what you have ever heard about Homer and his cunning hero Ulysses, here in the small archaeological museum of Vathy, the capital of the island, you will be face-to-face with a collection of findings believed by several researchers to prove the island's identification with Homer's Ithaca, in spite of some skeptics. The three sections of a large hall, located on the left side of the museum entrance, gather the most significant finds from southern Ithaca, including vases, coins, bronze idols, statues and tomb stones, all linked, one way or the other, to the legendary hero who after 20 years of roving over sea and land returned to his faithful Penelope.
